It is also set in 10 acres of its own land within the Dartmoor National Park. It is well situated for exploring all of South Devon, with its beaches and coast, and is within striking distance for a day trip to the Eden Project. There are many National Trust properties to view in the area and fishing, sailing and walking are some of the many activities available locally.
The hotel underwent a considerable building project in 2005 to 2006 to create a new restaurant and function suite and improvements to all of the public areas this helped to increase its percentage with the AA to 85% making it one of the top 3 star hotels in Devon and the South West.
