An 11th Century former Hunting Lodge to the Abbots at nearby Buckfast Abbey, Holne Chase has been a refuge for those seeking to re-charge their batteries, relax and enjoy a bit of pampering for over 70 years. Set in beautifully manicured park and woodland, encircled by the River Dart, this really is total escapism; even the mobile phone is required to go in the ice bucket on arrival.
Referred to as being “peculiarly secluded and romantic” in White’s Directory of Devon in 1850, very little has changed; the plumbing has improved thankfully and the food is now rated amongst the best in the South West, only sourcing local produce. Home grown vegetables, herbs, fruits and cut flowers from the Walled Garden, Dartmoor bred and fed meat and fish straight from the port of Brixham features in the traditional English menus.

Three miles north west of Ashburton on Dartmeet to Two Bridges road.
