South West England

Romantic Places to visit

Cotehele, nr Saltash, Cornwall

Medieval house with superb collections of textiles, armour and furniture, set in extensive grounds.

Exotic and tender plants thrive in the mild climate and there is much of interest to be seen throughout the year, with rhododendrons and azaleas being a particular highlight.

Remnants of an earlier age include a medieval stewpond and a 15th-century domed dovecote. Immediately surrounding the house are areas of more formal gardens, including terraces, whilst in springtime the meadow beyond the north-west tower is carpeted with daffodils. Cotehele is a garden to be explored at any time of year.
