The South Devon Railway is a friendly heritage railway line running trains along a beautiful, unspoilt 7 mile former GWR branch that hugs the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. Using vintage steam locomotives and carriages in the tradition of a bygone age, it offers fabulous scenery only seen from the railway.

At Buckfastleigh, you’ll find a museum, refreshment rooms, walks, riverside picnic area, gardens and, on selected days, a heritage bus service. Stop off at Staverton with its riverside walks and country pub or come along to Totnes and take the footpath links into the town or along the river. Joint tickets are available for the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm and Buckfast Butterflies and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary, both adjacent to the railway.
