The beach boasts rock pools at its northern and southern ends at low water. There are substantial sand dunes along its eastern boundary, which adjoins a golf course.

World famous for the many national and international surfing championships it hosts. If the surf's up then the beach is likely to be packed, especially in the summer months. It has a café and toilet facilities, together with car parking facilities.
