Rocks must be negotiated before you reach the large sandy beach and high tide covers the beach completely. The coastal path north leads to Tintagel and makes a wonderful scenic walk.

The small sandy cove in the village of Polkerris is very popular during the summer. A curved breakwater protects the water and there’s a pub more or less on the beach for those in need of a bit of refreshment.

The main beach at Bovisand is a quiet, sheltered bay of yellow sands with cliffs on either side. There’s a large expanse of sand for ball games at low tide or walking along the beach.

This is one of the best stretches of golden sand in Cornwall and ideal for romantic walks. The beach is used for horse riding and kite surfing, as there is a large expanse of sand at low tide.
